I shot a comparison between the clean iPad, the Paperlike, and one of Elecom's paper-type screen protectors (the strong texture one). The texture was too rough, it affected the sharpness noticeably, and it had very bad speckle.
I had an original Paperlike and was not a huge fan of it. One last thing, if you do lose lysol to clean your screen (given the pandemic and everything) it does leave a bit of residue behind on the screen protector but you can easily clean it with a microfibre cloth. The tools (minus the damp cloths) and the video link they provided made it a better process. Overall, it was not less or more tricky to apply than other screen protectors. Finally once you apply the screen protector you will have to use a credit card to squeeze out the air bubbles (didn’t take too long for me). Finally, they provide some stickers to align the screen protector, which I found to be useful. Instead of using the “wet” wipes I find using a bit of vinegar to dampen a micro-fibre cloth to be a better solution. For the cleaning part they provide less than stellar “wet” wipes, which were not damp at all. They provide a useful sticky paper to get all the dust out and they recommend you do it in a humid environment with less dust in the air (be very thorough here, I have two tiny particles of dust behind my screeprotector).
The process of putting it on is similar to other screen protectors (same amount of hassle). The feeling that it provides when using it with the Apple Pencil is not quite like paper (less rough, less resistant) but better than on the glass screen. It reduces a lot of the glare on the iPad (which makes a world of difference, I am now looking to get something similar for my iPhone).
